Washington Heights Community Arts Project (WHCAP)
WHCAP aims to promote solidarity and uplift inner-city communities by enhancing awareness of the arts within them and creating interactive artistic experiences. Through an alliance with artists, the public, and varied organizations we will break down barriers to counter the isolating experience of urban life and strengthen community relationships. The Washington Heights Community Arts Project emerged as an idea from local artists that want to expose their presence to the community at large, and bring awareness to residents of how art can be part of their lives, furthermore, how they can also participate in its creation. WHCAP hopes to ignite a new awareness and solidify a culture of art in this vibrant neighborhood. We are in the process of becoming a nonprofit organization and are doing a lot behind the scenes to improve our organization. For more information about the project or if you would like to participate in this effort please visit WWW.WHCAP.ORG or www.myspace.com/whcap, or email whcap118@gmail.com.
